You might remember Hilary and Brian from their pre-wedding portrait session in Burlington. Here they are looking their best on their wedding day which took place at the Old Mill in Ancaster on October 4, 2008. This was my last wedding of 08 and was assisted by my good friend and photographer Manuela Stefan. I seem to be blessed with easy-going and fun couples, and Hilary and Brian are no exception. Please take a moment to view the summary of their day.

I believe the make-up artist had to be improvised.

hmmm…

Hilary refused to have this picture taken! These were not supposed to be the wedding shoes…

This is something I don’t do too often, but I really liked the pose and expression on this one so extracted Hilary from the original background… It took me about 45 minutes to properly select and delete the background (the hair and flowers being the most difficult).

The girls.

Here the parents of the bride were expecting me to take a simulated smile type of picture… it soon became clear that my style of photography was natural! A few moments later I managed to get this genuine fun shot.

On the following 3 shots, a second flash was set-up behind the couple, creating that nice light in the background.

Technically, the elements in the background (tree branches) spoil the picture. In reality, who cares! It’s a fun picture that shows the couple’s character.

It’s always a good idea to make a set with the bride only. It’s her day after all!
Copyright SAphoto

And she’s so beautiful too.

This appears to be one of Hilary’s classic pose!

So peaceful.

And look at her eyes!

I had the same pictures printed as 11 by 14. As is most often the case, the picture was framed with a white matte so the guests can sign around it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen chairs so enormous. They surely are the King and Queen of the day!

A lot of the following pictures were taken from the balcony, with a second flash on the dance-floor triggered by a radio signal.

This makes for non-intrusive photography, and great for candids.
